Synopsis

The genre of my film is adventure, I will be filming a mockumentary. I will explore this genres conventions by having my character complete a quest to traverse the woods, with a bindle leant on there shoulder they will journey across a multitude of landscapes including wheat fields and rocky regions and come into contact with various creatures such as mice and problems such as getting stuck in the mud along the way. Finally to complete their quest they will find a snug spot with a view of the sunset, undo their bindle and set out a cozy picnic, pitch a tent and make a fire. In this spot they will make tea with water they boiled on the fire and quickly tuck away the treats they hauled in their bundle after a long day of traveling.

Target audience

I will target this project at young women and girls within the ages of 8 - 19 in both the ABC1 and C2D audience. As this is a short film it will complement the lifestyles of young women that have little time to relax and watch a long movie  they may have little time because they are university or collage students or have part time jobs along with there studies, or girls that have a short attention span. As my character is a mythical pixie my viewers won't identify with my charters culture or race but they may relate to their personality, likes and dislikes. 

Cast

In this film I may include background characters for some scenes, for these background characters I will cast Sally B and Mollie B. Although I will mainly use a clay character, this clay character will be voiced by myself however I will use software to change the pitch of my characters voice.

Crew Required

I will be the only person to: record with a camera, construct setting, set out lighting, create and record sound and direct my cast. However my cast will help me to position and move my clay figures in some scenes.

locations

I am planning to film in outdoor spaces such as meadows, rivers, woodlands and hills in Mosborough and the peak district. This fits my genre because my character will be exploring unfamiliar environments and solving the obstacles the landscapes lay out.

Props & costume

My props will include: a clay character in a shabby worn out costume including boots trousers and a shawl, my background characters will be dressed in winter coats, wellies, jogging bottoms and jumpers they are dressed this way so that they can walk in muddy cold locations. For my clay character to compete their journey they will use sticks, miniature tea cups, miniature bread, miniature camping equipment, a bindle, berries and nuts, leaves, a miniature soy saws fish bottle, mushrooms, miniature plates and cutlery, marbles, plastic rubbish and finally flowers as props.

Equipment

I will be using: A Cannon 2000D camera, microphones, A dead cat microphone, ring lights and torches, A tripod and headphones. This equipment is needed to: record sound accurately, film in good quality, create good lighting for my setting, steady my camera to film still shot's and listen to sound to make sure I have recorded the sounds I want.

Genre Conventions

My story line follows adventure conventions as my character goes on a journey that had an end goal, a picnic. All of the movies I have listed have an end goal and setting they are trying to reach. I chose a main character 'Tansy', this character follows adventure conventions as their friendly demeaner presented in the script and the unthreatening shot types they are presented in makes the viewer want to root for what the main character wants to achieve. I dressed my character in cottage core clothing that I felt matched the cozy theme of the story, and fit with the adventure genre convention of appropriate clothing for the setting. For example in pirates of the Caribbean the characters wear multiple layers to protect them from harsh cold winds as  they are sailing on a ship. My character is in the English countryside, they wore large boots, knit trousers, a shirt, a gray knit jumper, a thick poncho and  a sash, I think this costume would keep the character warm as England in quite cold, they would be protected from the wind and some rain, their boots would help them travel through rough terrain and their sash would help them carry the water they need for a long walk. I followed conventions in my work as I chose to film in places with the specific colour scheme of warm green and earth tones and used it throughout my film. I also showed various landscapes for my character to explore, I used shot types that are used in the adventure genre such as wide shots that showed of the landscape my character was in, long shots to showcase the characters actions and two shots to showcase characters interacting.

BBFC rating

I followed BBFC ratings for a PG product as my target audience are 8 - 19 year old's. I did this by not including or glamorized dangerous behavior, I have not used discriminatory language or behavior, I have not referenced drugs misuse, there is not any bad language or nudity, sex or threat and violence.
