Evidence of setting up equipment

In this image I am testing my camera's focus in a field.

Filming panning shot with canon camera

Match screen shots to storyboard

COMPARISON: In scene 1 I altered my angle but kept the contents of this scene relatively the same.
In scene 2 I changed the high angle of this scene and the central positioning of my text and character, I think this makes my character appear more mysterious, this hopefully draws the viewer in.

COMPARISON: In scene 3 I changed the high angle of my story board plan, as I wanted this scene to appear cozy and calm and I felt a high angle may dramatize this scene to much.
In scene 4 I changed my mid shot plan into a close up as I didn't want to include the hand moving my characters arm, but I kept the same action of the character drinking tea.

COMPARISON: In scene 5 I followed the story board plan of adding fairy lights to my background to make this scene feel more mystical and I think I achieved this. In scene 6 I did a close up as I planned tracking a stick that moved against a branch, to replicate the movement of a walking stick.

LO2 - D1 - Explain how meaning was created within the materials created

Meaning was created within my material as I depicted codes and conventions of the adventure genre as my character is actively pursuing a goal, the journey is their quest and their mission is to have a picnic, my character is exploring the unknown a overgrown landscape and I have created the satisfyingly conclusion of the character sitting down after a long walk and having a picnic. I demonstrated how my product fits the purpose of a mockumentary by including hand held camera work and natural lighting to add the feeling of realism, my character has a quirky personality with relatable flaws and aspirations and my subject is a mundane topic, a nature walk. This product creates meaning for the audience as it is comforting and relaxing, this is due to the connotations of my subject matter such as nature, sunlight, singing and a kid friendly fantasy character. And its denotations of  aesthetic mise-en-scène, warm yellow colour scheme that is easy on the viewers eye, smoothing camera panning, straightforward cut's, smooth transitions and visually interesting subject matter.

Evidence of following risk assessment

images:  rain coat, taping down wires, drinking water.

I used wellies with good grip, following my risk assessment so that I wouldn't slip in the mud.

I brought water so that I didn't get dehydrated, as listed in my risk assessment.

I also brought medical supplies as requested by my risk assessment.

Genre analysis

Adventure genre

I looked at screenshots from three different movies in the adventure genre: Atlantis The Lost Empire, Jurassic park and Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End.

My story line follows conventions as my character goes on a journey that had an end goal, a picnic. All of the movies I have listed have an end goal and setting they are trying to reach. I chose a main character 'Tansy', this character follows adventure conventions as their friendly demeaner presented in the script and the unthreatening shot types they are presented in makes the viewer want to root for what the main character wants to achieve.

I dressed my character in cottage core clothing that I felt matched the cozy theme of the story, and fit with the adventure genre convention of appropriate clothing for the setting. For example in pirates of the Caribbean the characters wear multiple layers to protect them from harsh cold winds as  they are sailing on a ship. My character is in the English countryside, they wore large boots, knit trousers, a shirt, a gray knit jumper, a thick poncho and  a sash, I think this costume would keep the character warm as England in quite cold, they would be protected from the wind and some rain, their boots would help them travel through rough terrain and their sash would help them carry the water they need for a long walk.

followed conventions in my work as I chose to film in places with the specific colour scheme of warm green and earth tones and used it throughout my film. I also showed various landscapes for my character to explore, I used shot types that are used in the adventure genre such as wide shots that showed of the landscape my character was in, long shots to showcase the characters actions and two shots to showcase characters interacting.

M1: Apply the codes and conventions for the chosen genre in the materials recorded

Comparison to existing media

Trudge in the mud comparison to Arthur and the invisibles

codes and conventions of adventure genre

This scene is a two shot, I did a similar shot where Tansy is greeting another character. This follows adventure genre conventions to let the audience know who the someone is and sets the tone and creates intrigue via the characters quirks, the character on the left creates intrigue for the audience via their quirks as they are funny and fast talking, my secondary character creates intrigue via their quirks as they are grumpy and reclusive.

In this scene the princes character is starting her journey by trying to pull the sword from the stone to complete a prophecy, In trudge in the mud I posed tansy in a similar close up shot and like the background in this scene it shows where his journey starts. This opening shot is common for the adventure genre as it is conforms to the conventions of following the character from the start of their journey to the end.

In this scene Arthur the main character is running through a field, I tried to replicate an action shots such as this by panning my camera, to create movement, I did this because the object I am filming is still. Action shots follow adventure genre conventions as it showcases the stakes and challenges are willing to go through this follows the Quest Narrative of a adventure.

This scene features a long shot that helps to establish the world Arthur is in, in this environment the plants and rocks around him are enlarged and he is in a rough over grown terrain, however we learn at the start of this movie that these characters are very small, similar to the size of bugs. This follows adventure conventions as the characters is exploring an intriguing environment that has not been experienced by humans, for example a setting such as this could be an unexcavated tomb or a undergrown ecosystem that has gone unnoticed by human life. I tried to follow conventions by depicting my setting as large and intimidating as my character is smaller than the environment that they are in.
